| The ambulance station
of the Red Cross of Plentzia is located besides the train station of Plentzia,
in a building that used to be part of the train company long time ago.
Integrated by about 30 volunteers, this station covers all the emergencies happening on the following districts: Plentzia, Barrika, Gorliz, Urduliz, Lemoiz and Maruri, including all the roads on this area and on the way to Bilbao. This ambulance station also serves Sopelana, Gatika, Mungia, Meñaka and Bakio when the ambulance of these districts is occupied. |

The emergency calls are directly received from Osakidetza, the Basque Health Service, which is the organism coordinating all the emergencies through the 112 phone number and sends the needed resources. |
| BASIC LIFE SUPPORT |

Our ambulance, a Fiat
Ducatto 2.8 D, is of the Basic Life Support type. It is fully equiped to
give a first response to any kind of medical emergencies and accidents.
The crew consists on three volunteers: A main technician, an auxiliary one and a driver (which is also properly trained to act as a third technician), which keep the ambulance on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by means of a system of shifts. |

All our volunteers are properly trained and fully cappable to perform their duties on the ambulance, by means of both knowledge and experience. |
| When they
are still not very experienced they start their duties as auxiliary technicians,
but as they gain experience and knowledge they start performing their duties
as the main ones.
